Who We Are

Pioneering Women's Health Autonomy

We are a women-led organization dedicated to de-stigmatizing reproductive healthcare and putting the power of choice directly into women's hands.

Our History

From Observation to Revolution

The Pearl Mother Child Health Foundation (PMCHF) began in 2018 with a simple observation: women in rural Uganda often traveled miles and waited hours for routine reproductive health services, only to face stigma and a lack of privacy.

"It wasn't just about convenience; it was about dignity, privacy, and autonomy."

— Dr. Elizabeth Okello, Founder

Starting with a pilot program in Gulu utilizing community health workers, we have since expanded to 12 districts, training over 1,500 health workers and reaching thousands of women who previously had unmet family planning needs.

What We Do

Our Core Objectives

Guided by our Governance Charter, these five pillars shape every programme, partnership, and intervention we undertake.

01

Translational Research

Conduct translational and operational research in reproductive, maternal, newborn, and child health (RMNCH) to generate evidence that drives real-world change.

02

Community-Based Interventions

Develop and implement community-based health interventions targeting underserved and hard-to-reach populations across Uganda.

03

Health Technologies

Leverage innovative health technologies to improve equitable access to RMNCH services, including self-administered contraceptives.

04

Workforce Development

Build a skilled, motivated, and compassionate health workforce through training of midwives, community health workers, and Private Care Providers.

05

Evidence-Based Advocacy

Engage in evidence-based advocacy to influence RMNCH policy, increase government investment, and embed equitable healthcare in national frameworks.

Our Principles

Our Core Values

These principles guide every decision we make and every partnership we build.

Dignity First

We believe every woman deserves respectful, non-judgmental care, regardless of her background or location.

Evidence-Based

Our training methodologies and advocacy are grounded in rigorous scientific research and data collection.

Community-Led

We don't just drop in; we build capacity within local systems, training Village Health Teams to lead.
